Application Pledge Terms of Use
Participating schools in the Application Pledge have the option of offering CommonTime Pathways users an application fee waiver or audition waiver through the CommonTime Pathways profile. The Application Pledge is available to registered users of CommonTime Pathways only. The institution may present an application pledge through the CommonTime Pathways interface any time after the first interaction with a user. Once received, the user may make the pledge through the interface. By participating in the Application Pledge as a CommonTime Pathways user or a school, you agree to abide by all terms set forth in the CommonTime Pathways Terms of Service. The term “school” or “schools” as it is used in this Term of Use shall refer to the institution, its agents and employees, and all individuals lawfully authorized by the school to offer a fee waiver or audition waiver for an application of admission to the school. Further, all users and participating schools understand and agree to the following:
Users
By participating in the Application Pledge as a user, you understand and agree that the Application Pledge is an invitation from a school to accept a fee waiver or audition waiver on their behalf to apply to their program. The fee waiver or audition waiver is made and offered by the school and not by CommonTime Pathways. The Application Pledge is solely an invitation to accept a fee waiver or audition waiver from the school. The Application Pledge does not constitute any other financial incentive and is not an offer of admission in any form, including but not limited to offers or guarantees of admission or early decision offers of admission. Likewise, if a user receives a fee waiver or audition waiver via the Application Pledge, the user is not obligated to utilize the fee waiver or audition waiver, or apply to the offering school.
The user is responsible for obtaining and utilizing the waiver according to the rules of the offering school. CommonTime Pathways does not issue waivers to users and is not responsible for providing a waiver if the user fails to obtain and follow the school’s instructions. This includes how to obtain the waiver and how to use the waiver. CommonTime Pathways is not responsible for, and will issue no waiver or other payment, to a user who obtains a waiver and fails to subsequently use the waiver with the offering institution. Users understand and agree that a waiver obtained via the Application Pledge may be used only for the school that offered the waiver.
Whether a waiver may be utilized after a school’s stated deadline, or whether a waiver may roll over from one year or admissions cycle to the next, is expressly determined by the offering school and not by CommonTime Pathways. Where a user is unable to utilize a fee waiver for any reason, no subsequent waiver or any form of compensation shall be provided to the user by CommonTime Pathways or a participating school.
For the avoidance of doubt:
Different schools use different methods to process waivers. If you are offered a waiver by a school, it is your responsibility to obtain the instructions from the school to utilize the waiver.
Different schools have different application deadlines and consequently different deadlines to use the waiver. It is your responsibility to follow the procedures provided by the school to obtain and utilize the waiver, and to use the waiver within the timeframe stated by the school.
CommonTime Pathways does not issue waivers and makes no payments or subsequent waiver offers if the user fails to utilize the waiver for any reason or fails to utilize the waiver within the deadline specified by the school.
You understand and agree that CommonTime Pathways does not provide individual instruction concerning how to obtain and utilize an application fee waiver or audition waiver for any specific school.
You agree that CommonTime Pathways shall not be responsible for making any payments to you or on your behalf to a school for an application fee concerning the Application Pledge.
You understand that, although any school on CommonTime Pathways may participate in the Application Pledge, no school is required to participate. Any school participating in the Application Pledge does so at its sole discretion and is not required to make a minimum or maximum number of waiver offers to CommonTime Pathways registered users. Each participating school is free to make waiver offers based upon whatever criteria it chooses, and CommonTime Pathways shall not have any input in those determinations. Schools may offer waivers through the Application Pledge to all, some, or no users that interact with the school through the interface. CommonTime Pathways likewise shall not have any determination as to whether or a user is offered a waiver through the Application Pledge program.
The Application Pledge fee waiver or audition waiver may be rescinded by the offering school at its sole discretion, at any time and for any reason. If a waiver is rescinded, the user is not eligible for any compensation, including a renewed waiver, by CommonTime Pathways or the offering school. The user’s sole recourse is through the offering school.
Schools
By participating in the Application Pledge as a school, you are offering a fee waiver or audition waiver directly to CommonTime Pathways users that you have first interacted with in the interface. You understand and agree that the Application Pledge is an invitation by the school to a user to accept a fee waiver or application waiver on your behalf to apply to your program. The Application Pledge is limited to the application fee waiver or audition waiver and does not support offers of admission in any form.
Schools may offer a waiver through the Application Pledge program to CommonTime Pathways users that they have already interacted with through the interface. Schools are not required to participate in the Application Pledge to remain active on CommonTime Pathways. Schools that choose to participate are not required to offer any minimum or maximum number of waivers. Each participating school at its sole discretion may choose which users to offer a waiver. CommonTime Pathways has no role in determining whether a user receives a waiver. CommonTime Pathways shall not act as arbiter in the event of a dispute concerning an offered waiver. Disputes related to an application fee waiver or audition waiver are handled exclusively between the school and the user.
Upon offering a fee waiver or audition waiver through the Application Pledge program, participating schools shall provide the following information to users:
Identify the academic year for which the Application Pledge is applicable.
Indicate the type(s) of waivers the student will receive for completing the Application Pledge
Provide the expiration date for the waiver (i.e. that the fee waiver is valid through the school’s application deadline).
Instruct the user on all necessary steps to obtain and redeem the waiver.
Schools understand and agree that different schools use different procedures regarding application fee waivers and audition waivers. Participating schools agree to provide the necessary instructions to each user for how to obtain and utilize the waiver. By participating in the Application Pledge, schools expressly agree that the waiver is an agreement between the school and the user. Schools understand and agree that CommonTime Pathways does not issue waivers or payments to users under the Application Pledge program. CommonTime Pathways is not responsible for providing any instructions or answering questions regarding the waiver process for an individual school at any time, including after school has offered the waiver to a user.
By participating in the Application Pledge program, the school likewise understands that the offer of a waiver is not legally binding on the user in that the user is not required to accept the offer or, if the user accepts the offer, they are not required to redeem the waiver and apply to the school.
The school warrants and affirms that, by participating in the Application Pledge program, the school has the authority to grant an application fee waiver or audition waiver to a CommonTime Pathways user. CommonTime Pathways does not issue waivers and shall not compensate the school for any waivers issued, regardless of whether or not the waiver is redeemed by a user. By participating in the Application Pledge program, the school agrees that it shall not seek or receive remuneration from CommonTime Pathways related to any waivers it decides to issue.
